Let's See How Smart You Really Are!!!!

EVALUATE THIS!

Trust No One

How accurate is the information?

ü            Is the information true, or to good to be true?

ü            Is there an editor or someone who verifies/checks the information?

Remember...

any yahoo can publish anything they want on the internet.
unlike a good old-fashioned book or magazine, internet resources rarely have editors or fact-checkers.

currently there is no one who actually checks on the accuracy of web sites
.

Authority, or, who really writes this stuff?

ü      Is there an author?

ü      Is anyone willing to take the credit or blame for this site?

ü      Is the author qualified?  What is he/she exactly qualified in?

ü      So, who's paying for this?

ü      Is the sponsor of the website reputable?

ü      Is there any information about the author?

ü      If the page includes neither a signature nor indicates a sponsor:

Look...

for a header or footer showing affilitation.

at the URL.     e.g. http://www.fbi.gov

at the domain    e.g. .edu, .com, .ac.uk, .org, .net , .mil, . gov

Objectivity

ü      Does the page show a minimum amount of bias?

ü      Is the page designed to sell you?

ü      Is there any ads on the page?

Currency

ü      Is there a date on the page?

ü      If so, when was it last updated?

ü      Are there a lot of dead links?

Coverage

ü      What topics are covered?

ü      What does this page offer you that you might not find elsewhere?

ü      How important is this information?

ü      How in depth is the information?

Sometimes web information is just-for-fun or outright silliness

The best way to evaluate a web site is to use your brain! Think carefully about what you see and TRUST NO ONE.
